I worked in Soho in central London during August and loved getting to know the area. There is SO much you could talk about when writing about Soho. There are oh so many restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, etc. Its such an interesting and densely packed area full of new places to discover. I would definitely recommend a wander around (on a weekday if you can). There is a fantastic atmosphere in afterwork hours especially.
Before spending a few weeks working in the area, I was unaware that it was a bit of centre for boutique fabric shops. I have taken some photos of some of these below. They are the kind of shops that you can’t resist if you are anything like me and love pattern and beautiful textiles (especially silks!).
Some of the fabric shops around the area of Berwick St are: Broadwick Silks, Cloth House, The Silk Society, Misan Textiles, The Berwick St Cloth Shop and Borovick. I am sure there are more that I missed!
And of course, as always, after all that fabric shopping you will need some refreshment. Cafe Gourmand is one of my favourite little cafes in the area (on Lexington St nr the Elle Deco offices where I was working). They have great coffee and you can often get a little parisian style table on the pavement out the front of the cafe for a spot of stylish people watching.
